FACULTY OF ARCHITECTURE AT UNIVERSITY OF LIEGE IN vBOTANICAL GARDEN
The establishment of a pole of the University in the botanical garden of Liege must make it possible to insufflate a new dynamics in the district and to allow the revalorization of the arboretum which lost its landscape and cultural interest. The project of the Faculty of architecture consists to connect and connect the various existing buildings (two rotundas and the building currently occupied by the Faculty of Architecture) to transform and to build a new building to close again the perimeter around the central court, today without function which has a real potential. The glazed roof allows the use of the central court all years long, which becomes the heart, the federator space of the faculty which evolves according to the cultural events and workshop of experimentation, exposure space, meeting place and of exchanges for the students. The workshop of experimentation, the amphitheatre of 400 places in relation to the cafeteria become spaces which can function independently of Faculty for conferences, exposures and varnishings on the topic of architecture, arts and botany. Existing vertical circulations are preserved and connected the one to the others by a set of links, which allow the animation of Faculty and to serve the various buildings while creating sights and relations with the workshop of experimentation. The building projected in direct relationship with the terrace, the greenhouses low and the botanical garden is dedicated to the workshops, with the teaching of the project. It becomes the emblem of the Faculty of Architecture, with its architecture of wood and glass. The structure of the roof is massiver on the existing side (with its hollow concrete pillars, which allows the arrangement of hardware for the workshop) create an opposition with the lightness of the frontage structure.
